Seeing Red

Success is not the result of spontaneous combustion. You must set yourself on fire. —Reggie Leach

Is it any wonder that fiery red is the color associated with Fame & Reputation? Red is the most physical and highly visible of all the colors. It is exciting, stimulating, provocative. Red alters your body chemistry in many ways: It makes your heart race, increases your circulation, raises your blood pressure, and causes you to perspire. It also helps build red blood cells, raises your energy, and evokes strong feelings of attraction and arousal. (It’s no accident that some of the sexiest lingerie and the “raciest” cars are red!)

Red is the most auspicious (beneficial) color in the Chinese culture—so much so that brides wear it on their wedding day, and babies are officially given their names at “red-egg” ceremonies.

At Chinese weddings and holidays, money is exchanged in lucky red envelopes because red is believed to burn off bad luck and negative chi, or energy. Many feng shui practitioners also receive payment in red envelopes to protect their own energy and honor the Chinese culture.

When used in feng shui, red stimulates chi wherever it is placed. However, it is most appropriate and beneficial when placed in Wealth, Marriage, and especially, Fame—the three guas whose energy helps us take things to completion.

When worn on the body, (as in the bracelet on this page), red can do the following:
promote a positive and self-confident attitude
make people notice you when you want to stand out
raise your energy when you're feeling fatigued
inspire you to take action and get something done
encourage a competitive spirit when you’re playing a sport
evoke feelings of sensuality and/or attraction

Want to make your mark on the world?
Wear the color red . . . or add it to your Fame & Reputation gua!
